Our Holidays
We had a wonderful Christmas! As you can see the kids got alot of great stuff. These are the before and after photos. Emily woke us all up at 5:30am to open presents. Pete says he heard her up at 4:00am and at least she waited awhile to get us up.The first time in nine years she woke up before dawn. I was very tired but excited to watch the kids open gifts. By about 6:30 we finished opening everything. We spent Christmas day indoors all day it was raining and yucky out. We had a small family meal and went to bed early .Getting up at 5:30 makes little kids cranky. On Christmas Eve we were invited for fondu at my friend Heathers house. That was fun and intresting. There was cheese and vegies ,beef and shrimp and chocolate and fruit. It was the first time we had ever had fondu. I enjoyed it, although one could starve if you had to eat it for a meal. It takes a while to cook meats.
We are planning to spend New Years Eve at home. I don't think I can make it to midnight. I'm usually asleep by 9:00pm. We'll have to see. I'm going to take a nap maybe that will help. The kids aren't intrested in staying up. And we don't get any of the New Years Eve specials on TV because of the time difference. So it's almost like any other day. I haven't made any New Years resolutions. And don't plan to. I never stick to them. I just want us all to be in great health and happy. I hope all of you have a prosperous New Year!

Day by Day
I just want to start off by saying having gestational diabetes sucks! I hate the diet they have me on. It seams as soon as someone tells you, you can't have something, you want it. I'm having a hard time eating what I'm supposed to. Checking my blood doesent hurt and I don't have any physical symptoms,I'm not gaining and Mason is not gaining weight excessively. So I'm frustrated with the diet. And I'm hungry more often. There is only so much meat and cheese I can stand. It's like being on the Atkins diet, low or no carbs. (blah) But I do it just to be sure we are both healthy. And I'm staying off the meds, which is always a good thing. I don't know though next Dr. appointment I might ask for the meds so I can EAT. The faster time flies the better.Or if Mason decides to arrive early that would be ok with me.As long as its after 37 weeks. Which is considerd full term.
To make things harder Christmas is almost here. Pete has already made out a list of all the cookies and candies he plans on bakeing. And Emily's Girl Scout troop is gearing up for cookie season. (ugg) With all the sweets around I'm going to go insane!

Jacob's B-DAY
Jacob is 7 years old!!! Time has flown by. He's a little man now. We had a small celebration with Grant and Lorna. We went to dinner at Chili's so that the Chili's gang could sing Happy Birthday to him and get a free icecream. We took him to the PX so he could spend his birthday money. It was like Christmas morning in our livingroom, toy packaging all over the place. He was really happy to have Uncle Grant and Aunt Lorna over for his birthay. I'm glad my boy had a great bithday.

Jake's award and Emily's B-day
Jacob recieved a positive action award from school. That means he is an outstanding student in his class. They had a ceremony for all the students recieving an award. We are so proud of him! He is the one right in the center.Sorry it's a little blurry. It's the best one of the bunch. Pete says it's our camera but I think it's operator error. He took the pictures.
Emily is 9 years old can you believe it? We had a small celebration at home with just us.We let her pretty much have her way all day. She picked where we ate dinner. She wanted curry so we went to Cocoichibana's. (The curry house) Then she wanted to spend her birthday money and go to Dragon Palace, a big arccade with a candy store. So that's what we did. It think she had a really good time.
As for me I'm hanging in there. I don't like my new diet but ya gotta do, what ya gotta do. My blood sugar levels are staying with in range, which is good. And pricking my finger doesn't hurt it's just a hassle. But this weekend my levels may go up I have Emily's cake and my baby shower cake to eat. So this weekend I'm giving myself the ok to indulge a little.

Spoke to soon
Well, I spoke to soon. I do have gestational diabetes. Yesterday,I had a message on my machine from my doctor. I failed my glucose tolerance tests. Now I have to test my blood sugar at home 4 times a day. I aslo have to see a nutritionist and change my diet. My doctor is confident with diet and monitoring I can keep it under controll. It just stinks with Christmas just around the corner, all the goodies I'll have to try and stay away from. This will truely test my will power. Poor Pete he'll have to suffer through it with me. And we are both big sugar lovers. I only have 10 weeks to go and I have my eye on the prize, a healthy baby and me!!

Thanksgiving
Well we made it through another Thanksgiving. We had lots of food, not too much left over.We were expecting about 27 people and only had 20 show.Which was fine with me. I wasen't sure where I was going to seat them all. We fit 20 just fine, Pete brought home some tables and chairs from work. We watched a couple of Christmas movies to get ready for the next holiday. One of Pete's marines that came to eat had not seen A Christmas Story so we had to let him see it. That's one of our family traditions, we watch A Christmas Story every year around the holidays.I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
As for my glucose test,no news is good news I suppose. The doctor never called so I'm assume I passed. Unless they mixed up results somewhere along the way. I was taking the test at the same time with an Amy Joy Nelson,I'm Tommye Joy Nelson. She didn't get a call either so I guess we both passed. I'm sure I'm fine.

Dr.Appt.
I went to the doctor today for a check up. Everything is going right along schedule. I have gained a total of 21 lbs. so for and my blood pressure is good. I also took the glucose test and failed, well my levels were raised. So I'm going in tomorrow morning for the three hour test. I have to fast for it. I'll be bored out of my mind and hungry too. I'm not worried though. I had to take the three hour test with Emily and came out clean. I wonder if anemia has any connection with high levels of glucose in the blood. Because I was amemic with her also. I'll let ya know if anything is found or if they want to further test.
My friends and sister-in-law are throwing a baby shower for me Dec.3rd. I'm so excited.I wonder what kind of goodies I'll get. There is alot of better, cooler baby gear out there from when my other two were born.

Halloween
Halloween has come and gone. And we had a bountifully Trick or Treat time. Pete took the kids around the neighborhood, they came home with more candy than I handed out. I stayed home this year and handed out the goodies. I just didn't fell like walking all over the place. Jacob was a goulish vampire and Emily was a goblin ghost. Both were pretty scary. Now it is time to get ready for Thanksgiving. We are having Pete's shop over to the house this year. I'm not sure how many people but I'm sure it more than I have room for in the house. We'll make it work. I won't be making the entire meal by myself I'll have a few helpers. A friend of Pete's is going to deep fry the turkey. I have never had a fried turkey but I hear they are yummy. We plan to have the traditional meal, turkey and the fixins. I hope it turns out well.

My Belly
Here is a picture of my ever growing belly. I'm 25 weeks along. I don't have much longer to wait. My due date is February 7 but I'm hoping I'll go a little early. Maybe January 27-28, wishful thinking. I'm just so excited I don't want to wait. At my last appt. I found out I'm anemic, which explaines why I've been so tired and why I haven't gotten the second trimester burst of energy. Now that I'm on iron I'm feeling better. Other than being tired, aches and pains my pregnancy had been good. I'm pretty positive this will be the last for us. Just being older I have noticed being pregnant is harder than it was the other two times. That and I think three is a good number of children.(for us) Jacob and Emily are getting more and more excited about baby Mason coming. Jacob seems to be the most intrested. He wants to feel my belly and he likes to put his ear on my belly so he can hear if Mason is talking. He says he hears him, what he hears I have no idea. We all are very happy Mason will soon be here.
