BPA

Bisphenol-A,what the heck is it? Its a chemical that is in plastic, mostly polycarbonate. I don't know all the plastic it is in but I do know it's in my sons bottles."Avent"brand and it's in many other popular brand name bottles. It seems glass may be the only safe alternative. I'm so angry and scared about this,Mason has been using these bottles for almost a year. And I know a lot of other kids have too. What harm has it done. None that I can tell but it's the long term that I'm worried about. Possibly early onset of puberty or worse, prostate cancer later in life? And to make it all worse Mason loves to have his morning milk in these bottles. I've tried to transition him to a sippy in the morning but he throws it in the floor and cries for the bottle. We are still working on it. We stopped heating the bottles in the microwave hoping that this is at least a little safer.
Check out this site for some good info.

Canada has already banned BPA. I think we sould follow suit. One less plastic can only be a good thing.

Great. I used them with Sami and I have a whole new stock of nipples to use them with Jillian.

Just read an article the other day that Wal-Mart is pulling all of their bottles with BPA off the shelf and a manufacturer in New York is banning the use of it in their products. So, there's a start...

Check on a company is called bornfree. That is what we registered for. It is not supposed to have all the harmful stuff in it.

You're kidding yourself if you think this is just in your baby bottle. Look at anything plastic in your house (all those name brand water bottles we love-ie, camelback, nalgene, etc) are all plastic #7...the bad one. Most of the sippy cups are, too. I've found alot that aren't though, so you've just got to do the digging. Plastic #5 is supposed to be ok, so just make sure you transition to that. And if you want a safer alternative water bottle for you try a SIGG or someother stainless steel/aluminum/ceramic bottle. FYI-don't warm anything up in ANY plastic, including tupperware. It breaks down the polymers faster and depostits them in your food easier. This is all stuff that my oncologists told me several years ago....this "new" research is not new by any means. I use hardly any plastic in my house-its all pyrex or glass containers for us :)
